Get Ready for the Convergence

I hope you're ready for this. Convergence is that point where the painfully obvious just happens. And after it has happened everyone simply takes the resulting change for granted. Before that, we all think that whatever it was is too disruptive, too new or not right for us.

This blog is about convergence. Where technology meets up with what people want/need in order to achieve their goals. Where our sense of humanity butts up against political, social and religious institutions. Where our sense of being small slams into the recognition of this immense "thing" of which we are an integral part.

Take email and this blog. I chose the title of this blog to reflect the inefficiency and growing ineffectiveness of email communication. Email's growth and acceptance is outpaced only by one thing: its glaring lack of capacity for organizing asynchronous collaboration in ways that are helpful. Don't take my word for it. Check your inbox. Then check your listserv archive. Then check your archive folders. Or better yet, your sent messages archive. Got it yet?

Heck, as I write this I'm waiting for a new software provider to send me confirmation of my registration for their service. It hasn't showed up yet. Better check my junk folder.
